!BREAKING NEWS! Vigilante Deacon Gunned Down

Last night around 11pm, sources tell us that Deacon the Hunter and his female companion Stormbringer, formerly known as Thunderstorm, were in the midst of stopping a band of rogue Scarecrow goons who were trying to salvage some of the parts from the criminal's fear gas foggers that had recently been destroyed by a small but powerful group of heroes.

Eyewitnesses state that as the blue and black hero and heroine took out the band of thugs, a masked man mostly dressed in black managed to get the drop on the two masks and opened fire. Reportedly, it seems as though Deacon sensed the attack moments before it happened and he manage to jump in front of Stormbringer as the shots rang out. Even after taking 3-4 rounds in his abdomen and upper torso, Deacon still traded blows with the masked man and seemed to have stood toe to toe with the him until the severity of his injuries overcame him and Stormbringer was forced to retreat with the gravely injured vigilante. Harvey Bullock was on the scene and went on the record to say this was more than likely a direct response to Deacon's supposed actions against Harley Quinn earlier in the week, but also stated that he was speculating. No one from The Coalition has come out and made a statement about tonight's events. We'll report more as more details arrive.
