Demon Attack Aftermath

Judgement in the streets.  That is precisely what happened earlier today in the downtown core, when the celestial entity known as the Spectre was allegedly driven mad, resulting in innocent people being transformed into fearsome spirits, apparently intent on passing final judgment on the everyday citizens of Metropolis.
The Sentinels of Magic launched a response to combat this terrifying spectacle that had consumed several blocks but todays' victory was mostly the hard work of Metropolis' hero population.  Both the familiar faces and the newer group created as a result of the atmospheric detonation now known as the "Exobyte Wave", who shouldered the bulk of the work of fighting back these spirits and saving the lives of the civilians who had fallen victim to this event simply for the crime of going to work today.

In the aftermath of the horrific and sometimes grisly display (the photographs we took were deemed too graphic for front page publication, please visit our website to confirm your age if you wish to view them) we found that some of the heroes who were involved in the incident appeared to be deeply affected by what they saw.  Indeed, we found one young heroine sitting on the edge of a trash bin just outside the county courthouse, slowly wiping at some sort of material that had stained one of the large swords she apparently wielded.  As she appeared to have been directly in the midst of the action, we sought to get her account of what had happened.

When we approached her, there was no response at first and when she did finally look up at this reporter, her face looked haunted.  Identifying herself to us as "Silverblitz", we learned that this teenage heroine was from an alien world where mysticism was very prevalent, and spirits were benevolent forces.  As a result of this the gruesome, half bodied phantasms were contrary to her peoples' beliefs and when she saw them tearing the very soul of a young man from his mortal body before her eyes, it was a traumatic experience.  But inspired by the bravery of the heroes of our Metropolis she fought against these cruel apparitions, even allowing the Sentinels of Magic to loosen her own soul so that she could fight against the most powerful of the marauding spirits, which we are calling "Reapers" due to their appearance.

When we left her after receiving the harrowing account of the fight against the judging spirits, she politely waved to us, and then returned to wiping at the otherworldly stain on her weapons' blade.  It did not appear to be coming off, and we wondered: how many of our brave new heroes have had their very souls permanently stained by the evil they strive to protect us from?
