Superpatriot Storms the DP Blog Offices!

It was a normal day like any other day here at the DP Blog. Writers were busy punching their keyboards trying to edit and proofread their stories for submission, field reporters running in and out of my office giving me the latest reports.  With the hectic day turning into a hectic night, I decided to go to the roof and get some fresh air and go over some notes in private.  Just as I was half way through my notes, a gust of wind almost blew the papers from my hand.  After collecting my papers off the ground, including myself, I looked up to see a strongly built figure, almost like a statue, standing on the ledge abvoe me. It was Superpatriot! As I stood there slack jawed, the Red, White, and Blue Crusader jumped down and pushed my glasses back on my nose and said, "I think you have some questions for me. I'm ready to answer them."

1) Okay, Patriot. I'm glad you found time in your schedule to stop by and see us. But why? Aren't you supposed to be in hiding?

There are many things happening in this country right now. Most of them that go against what this country was founded and stands for. The villains are hiding in plain sight now under the guise of government sponsorship. Now is not the time for me, or any true American to be hiding.

2) Who exactly was the young boy you saved?

An ally. Someone who, even at his young age, knows that if it is within your abilities to help those in need then you do everything you can to help them.  Most importantly, he understands the freedom in making that choice is a priceless commodity that can't be taken away by any law.

3) Do you care to share any information with us about his powers?

No more than you'd care to share the details of your nightly sleeping arrangements.  The enemies he'll face will know soon enough.

4) You recently rescued Flamegirl from probably a lifetime of imprisonment just a few weeks ago. Why didn't you do it sooner than you did and what was the final straw that made you say, "it's happening now?"

Why not sooner? Because, despite what has been reported by the press, including this paper, those facing the forces of evil in this world do not get to choose the battleground on which we face it.  We are forced to face them on their terms when we discover them and usually when they are committing crimes.  While we may find them in the air or on the streets of the cities we are in and bring them to justice, holes in our legal system accompanied by slick, high-priced lawyers paid for by the likes of Lexcorp and Ammon-Ra Corp have them out of custody and back on the streets sometimes within hours.  Sometimes they are freed by their own criminal followers like Abaddon of FOE.  People have forgotten that we are their only protection against these villains who are the real guilty parties putting them in danger.

But you asked why not sooner. It is because of each hero's dedication to protecting the innocent that we did not act sooner. It was because we were given a rare opportunity to choose the battleground so that no innocents would fall under harm's way that we waited until she was being transfered.  As I said, the villains are hiding in plain sight now. The true heroes in  this country no longer need to search for them or wait for them to start committing a crime. Now we know where they are and we can bring justice to them on our terms.

As for the last straw, there are to many to count, but lets take some into consideration.  The 423 dead from the federal building attack. An attack perpetrated by a villain that is closely associated with some these "Cape Killers" that your paper has forgotten to mention. The 159 dead from the Centennial Park attack that was lead by the same villains who now spearhead the MFC's meta-human task force. Their formation dedicated in the same park that they slaughtered so many innocents. What of the 12 innocents saved from a fire by a person who was capable of doing it and then arrested for their effort?  The straws are many and no single one should be considered more important than the other, but it is not the backs of the heroes who have been broken by the VRA. Rather, it is the will of the American people to think for themselves and form their own opinions that has been.

It is not the will of the people that is being done in the name of the MFC.  It is the will of fear. Fear of the increasing numbers of meta-humans in this world. Fear that the villains of this country, and world, has tended to like a smoldering flame into a forest fire that will consume us all if people don't stop standing for what they are told to and start standing for what they believe is right.

5) Did she tell you about the treatment she was receiving while being held? Is the MFC using power dampeners like they're claiming to be or is there another way that captives are being held?

When one takes into consideration that the MFC is being lead by a man such as Lex Luthor and employs such people as members of The Scumbags, Legion of Sin and Onslaught Inc, it isn't hard to imagine the kind of treatment that heroes confined by them are forced to endure. Nor is it hard to believe when you are told of it.  As for the methods used in controlling the powers of those they've captured, I can't speak towards it.

6) As you may have read, a few days ago, the Assassins League and The Coalition prevented the Black Lanterns, VG, and False Hopes from stealing a large shipment PETN from Ace Chemicals. Instead of congratulating the two leagues on a job well done, the MFC not only labeled them terrorists but also accused them of masterminding the entire theft. What are your thoughts on those two leagues and what the MFC is trying to do with them?

To sit back and say that none of us saw this day coming would be to admit that we are blind. Back room deals between powerful politicians with deep-pocketed lobbyists like Lexcorp, public outcry against super heroes because of their efforts against those truly committing crimes in this country.  They are the cause of the property damage. The loss of life. Now, because of the propaganda machine orchestrated by Lex Luthor through his puppet politicians and the media they are trying to portray us as the criminals in order to cover their own illegal actions. I ask you this though, how many thieves have you heard of that return the property that they've supposedly stolen?

I congratulate The Coalition and the Assassins League on their continued efforts to do what is right. Protect and serve their country by keeping the true criminals from harming the innocent.

7) How do you and the rest of Meta Justice feel about being placed on that same list as national terrorists?

To label any member of Meta Justice as a terrorist is ludicrous. We save lives. We don't take them. We protect the innocent. We don't subject them to fear or intimidation. Our actions speak for themselves. If the day ever comes that honest reports of Meta Justice attacking university students, city police forces, or civilians begin to come in, then I will label us as terrorists myself. Do not report stories of one of our members saving 12 lives from a fire and even consider putting us in the same category as the terrorists that are even now working for the MFC.

8) Recently, Superman gave an interview in which he voiced his support of the law generated by the VRA.  What are your thoughts on his stance?

While I do admire Superman and am thankful for what he has done not just for this country, but the entire world, I am amazed and disappointed that someone who has stated that he is here to fight for Truth, Justice, and the American way would stand by something that represents the exact opposite of those ideals. There is no truth behind the purpose of this "law." It's very formation is founded on lies started by opportunists seeking to gain control of those more gifted than them. There is no justice represented in it. Where is the justice in arresting a person for using their gifts to save lives at risk to their own?  This is not the American way.  Ours is a government of the people, by the people, for the people. This "law" was orchestrated by opportunists and crafted by their puppets dangling from their strings made of campaign contributions.

At the same time though, I can't be surprised that a person would support a law that holds no authority over them personally which is what truly makes this law laughable. For a law to have meaning, it must first be Constitutional, second be one wanted by the people, and third applicable to all those under it.  To set aside a group of people and say that a law does not pertain to them is no different from the laws that condoned slavery, segregation, or the imprisonment of people because of their religion. To support such a law is ignorance.

What always seems like perfect timing, MFC Enforcers and Cape Killer Units were outside the DP Blog waiting on the hero. Instead of engaging the them, Superpatriot flew into the clouds above.  From there, he quickly made his escape. Not soon thereafter, a new, brightly colored Legion of Sin, came rushing through the building and to the roof and sky after him. We can only assume that Superpatriot had planned for this and has made it back to safety, unharmed.

  1. its all about perception. the people beleive lex to be one of them and anyone he endorses seems to fall under his umbrella of do no wrong. eventualy the veil will be lifted and everyone will see this "law" for wat it is a sham to give power to those who would abuse gifts for thier own profit

  2. He made a good point, applicable to all those under it. How can anyone debate that this does not separate a group of people from that of the other?

  7. While I will agree that Lex Luthor is quite influential, that is where my praise for him ends. Yes, he is human, and yes, Superman is not from our planet, but that doesn't automatically make him a plotting, villanous terrorist. Lex claims to be protecting humanity with his actions, but all he is really doing is trying to protect his fear of anyone more powerful using the government as a shield for his crimes. He is so single-minded that he fails to see the damage he has already done. It saddens me that the people have been sucked in by his fear mongering that they are willing to believe the drivel that he spews about those who are on the same side in protecting humanity.

    And to the MFC Enforcers:
You don't seem to realize that your single-minded approach in arresting thse that are trying to save lives will only do more harm than good and place more innocent lives in harm's way. If one of us is arrested for doing the right thing, then you must also know that we will not sit by idlly while you enact this injustice against our brethreren. This isn't retaliation. Only freeing those that are needed to save the same lives you are trying to protect.
