PS3 Patch Forthcoming

According to the Official Facebook Page, many prayers have been answered. The powers-that-be have paid close attention to many of our concerns and feedback and are incorporating numerous "fixes" that address popular issues. hopefully our PC brethren will be getting an update soon as well. Read on for the patch details:

To all of you who have been participating in our DC Universe Online PS3 Beta, we’d like to welcome you and thank you! We’ve been listening closely to your feedback and we’ve heard a few of you are running into some technical issues. We want you to know your feedback is valuable and we are implementing fixes as quickly as possible. In the next patch many issues will be resolved.

Some of the specific issues that we are fixing include numerous changes to improve the user interface, in particular text readability. In addition, we want to make it easier for you to play with your friends! What is an online game without playing with friends?

Social enhancements will make it easier to communicate, play and group with others. Improvements to chat input, frequently used phrases menu, and the ability to use emotes will further convey your personality and mood to the world. There are also several adjustments in process that will improve instruction and hint messages within the UI. Plus, we are adding a way for you to quickly access combo sequences, super power information, and buff/debuff information for your character.

Finally, stability of the game has been greatly improved in the latest version. So, as you can tell there is a lot going on and more to come. Please, keep giving us your feedback and insights, and get ready for a great game play experience – thanks to your feedback!

While this is certainly good news, I have to stop the patch celebration for a moment. There's nothing like having a solid relationship between player and developer and some elements of our community have been downright ungrateful when it comes to DCUO. Yes I know we're paying a subscription fee, Yes I know they're "doing their jobs" ,and Yes I know about the "customer is always right" and about the unwritten code between the consumer and the producer, but let's cut the crap for a moment. Look around you at developers across the community and see how many of them "take the money and run", publicly feign concern about game issues but with their actions do little or nothing to resolve them. Wake up! There's alot of crap out there in the gaming community people. I think the DCUO team deserves a big hand, a Thank You and a little respect. Many of us have been coming across like spoiled children demanding things from a developer that quite frankly--doesn't have to do ANYTHING. They could quite easily adopt a business strategy that allows them to double their operating costs (the money put into the project) and then bail on the content like plenty of other developers do when they reach profit goals.

While i'm certainly not suggesting any blatant ass-kissing, I think it's important for us to take a look at the big picture and be thankful for WHAT we have, WHILE we have it. Now let's go download that patch, eh?
