Sebastian Winter began his scientific career under the guidance of Dr Victor Fries studying molecular biology and cryogenics but left before Fries moved to Ferris Boyles company, he went onto Gotham University to study Nuclear physics and Quantum theory. Sebastian excelled at the subject using knowledge obtained from Fries and his own genius to surpass the knowledge of his tutor. During his second year at the university Sebastian broke free from a sustained social reclusion and met Lauren Night a student of Biochemistry, over time they both fell in love and upon finishing university they were engaged to be married. Sebastian found a position at Wayne Corp as head nuclear scientist while Lauren researched cures for terminal illnesses.

The couple married and life became settled and homely until tragedy struck. A biological spill at Laurens work proved fatal and she was diagnosed with cancer, unable to cope with the premise of death of his beloved Sebastian turned to the criminal underworld. Using connections within Wayne Corp and various thugs on the street he found the hideout of Pamela Isley aka poison ivy, he pleaded to her to cure his wife and in return he would provide his knowledge of Wayne Corp, she agreed and asked for his wife to be present the next day so she could be cured. The next day came and Sebastian and Lauren stood in front of Pamela, before the cure could be administered batman interrupted and battled ivy during the struggle Lauren was swept into the toxic lakes used by ivy Lauren died. After Laurens funeral Sebastian swore revenge on batman and vowed to kill him, stealing atomic research technology from Wayne Corp he constructed a suit that allowed the wearer to manipulate the atomic structure of any object however the wearer would receive high amounts of radiation. Using the suit Sebastian battled batman at a warehouse but he was bested in combat, lying on the ground with huge amounts of radiation injected into his body Sebastian muttered the words “you killed my wife :cough: now you will die with me” pressing a button on his suit, bombs were triggered on canisters of radiation spread around the room, batman escaped just in time and Sebastian was left in the factory radiation splashing his face, his flesh melting from his face, the warehouse exploded in a flash of green light. The Gotham police department assumed Sebastian had perished, batman was not so easily fooled, searching the debris he couldn’t find Sebastian’s body only a heart shaped locket with a picture of his wife within it.
