Mayor Speaks for Hostages
While the Hostage Crisis at the mayor's office stretches into its second week, Negotiators have made progress with the super-terrorists. Over the weekend they were able to arrange to speak to Mayor Fleming, who assured authorities that no hostages had been injured and that they were also being treated humanely.
Sources are reporting on a rift between some of the authorities present at the hostage crisis. It seems one segment is content to continue negotiations, while the other is more than ready to implement a military, more aggressive solution to bring the events to a close.

Battle Near Diamond District PD Slows Flow of Heroes Supporting the City Hall Offensive in Metropolis
Late last night the villain legion known as H8T laid siege to the Diamond District police station in Gotham. The Diamond District PD had basically become a transportation hub for Gotham based heroes to travel to Metropolis and help with the ongoing situation that's been developing there. Several hero leagues were heading to the police station when they were brutally ambushed by well coordinated criminals.
Akroma seen near Hostage Crisis
The mysterious winged Metahuman Akroma was seen early this morning flying above the Mayor's Office where we enter Day Three of the Hostage Crisis. Many are still unsure of her affiliation as there are rumors that upon her first appearance she was associated with the forces of evil.
Several flying heroes took to the air to approach the enigmatic metahuman but she quickly left the area before they could confront her. After the failed rescue attempt by the hero Sabre yesterday, authorities continue to ask for cooperation from vigilantes and heroes alike in allowing negotiators to do their jobs in hopes that they can reach a peaceful solution.

Hostage Mastermind Revealed: Vicious
Earlier today sources revealed that the mastermind behind the Hostage Crisis was no other than Metropolis villain Vicious. As the crisis entered day three, the public is still unaware of the condition of the hostages, the terrorists demands or the progress of the negotiations. The Justice League's Wonder Woman spoke to reporters about an hour ago addressing the many media outlets present at the Mayor's Office. "Right now all we can tell you is that we're trying to let the negotiators do their jobs, we're trying our best to let the proper authorities broker a peaceful solution."
Source: Vanguardians in Turmoil
While the area outside the Hostage Crisis is a virtual Who's Who of established, popular and veteran hero groups, one group is conspicuous by its absence. The Vanguardians.
We ran an article last week regarding the league's almost complete absence recently only to have a source WITHIN the hero group contact us. The source agreed to speak under the condition of anonymity and provided a startling view of the state of one of the city's most prominent hero groups.
Hero injured trying to liberate hostages
The popular female Gotham vigilante Sabre was slightly injured last night while trying to liberate the hostages from the Mayor's office. She was the first hero to come into contact with the now-famous hard-light force field that surrounds the entire structure where the hostages are being held. It is unknown whether the field is being generated or if someone is projecting it, but after Sabre attempted to stealthily enter the structure from the rooftop and was hurled almost a block away, its obvious that it prevents unauthorized entry.
Paramedics gave Sabre a clean bill of health save a few bumps and bruises and authorities warned anyone else about trying to enter the building. Today begins Day 3 of the Hostage Crisis. A large contingent of law enforcement agencies and over 20 hero groups remains at the command center near the building. Sources tell us that the hostage takers made contact last night but haven't revealed the identities or demands yet.

Hostage Negotiations Underway
As the Hostage Crisis at the Mayor's office stretches into its second day, A number of superhero and vigilante groups have joined authorities in a vigil in a make-shift command center outside of the Mayor's Office. Representatives from the Legacy of Truth, The Assassin's League, PeaceKeepers, The Coalition, Meta-Justice, Meta Militia, Dream Team and Overwatch were all present and accounted for. While many were unavailable for comment but Enchantress of Swift Justice spoke to several media outlets. "It seems there's some kind of invisible circle field preventing entry, word is it even stretches into the sewers. We're here for support, but its all up to the negotiators right now."
