5 Minutes with Overdrive: by Cat Grant

While The PeaceKeepers have certainly been a busy Hero League of late, we reached out to them through some of our PR channels and secured an interview with one of their founders, recently. Keep reading for Overdrive's thoughts on PeaceKeeper recruiting, The Legion of Sin and why their secretary, Ms. Tipps hasn't had a moment's rest lately. (continued on page 4)

(1) We understand that the Peacekeepers don't have one "leader" per se. Just how does that work?
The Peacekeepers are a team spread across two dimensions. During a battle against The Warbringers, a device hit our team, sending half of us into a world exactly like our own; through the skills of Dr Vinci and other magic users we have been able to stay in contact with the other team, who have decided that the other world needs their help just as much as ours does. As a result, there are 2 founders on each team; myself and Lunar Ray reside on one world, with Tremor and Thor's Assassin on the other. It's a big responsibility to co-ordinate a league, and something I would not be able to manage myself. Thanks to Lunar Ray and the other founders, I don't have to.
(2) We know that you recently had a new recruiting drive, how has it gone?
Our recent recruitment drive has been a resounding success. With the influx of new villains from the Exobyte incident we made the choice to expand our team in order to comabt them. We've taken on some great new heroes including Mienya Talmyr, Code-Blue, Ingition and countless others, all of whom are fitting into the team well and helping us in our quest to keep the peace. Tomorrow we reach the end of our search for new heroes and will devote our energies into properly initiating the new members to the league, and showing them the months.
(3) We ran a story some months ago on how residents of Metropolis and Gotham felt safer with high-profile heroes like you and the Vanguardians around, any comment? It's always refreshing to know that your work is being appreciated, however, that's not why we do what we do. The Peacekeepers and The Vanguardians, who we're fortunate enough to be allied with, are simply doing what we can to combat villainy in all it's forms and lending a hand with the gifts we have. Just because our names are heard does not make us better at our jobs. The real heroes are those men and women in the emergency services who cannot shrug of bullets, the men and women who put their lives on the line every day of the week in order to save lives, it's an honor to work beside them.

(4) Recently the community has been threatened by the systematic assassination of a super team (The Elementals) power-enhancing toxins (the dangerous street drug "Burn") and the boldness of the vicious Legion Of Sin and other copycat villainous organizations. As a premier superhero team, how do you help these situations?
Obviously we try to help wherever we're needed. Of course, in high-profile situations such as these The Peacekeepers are doing everything they can in order to help, including organising free grief counseling for the families of The Elementals, rounding up and destorying large amounts of 'Burn' as well as working on leads in order to track down and apprehend The Legion of Sin. With our now increasd ranks, we are working day and night in order to ensure Gotham and Metropolis remain safe for the fine citizens that live there.
(5) An experimental matter device was almost stolen from S.T.A.R Labs a few days ago, does this kind of audacity by villains concern you?
As was said earlier, since the Exobyte incident there have been many new villains to consider. Coupled with more experienced villains we are often faced by crises such as this we have had to redouble our efforts, including commissioning a new satellite which will allow us to essentially see anywhere in Metropolis and Gotham, as well as doubling our patrols of the cities and increasing monitor duty in our HQ. Luckily, last weeks incident at S.T.A.R Labs was handled and the device remains save, however, this is not the first time the villains of Metropolis and Gotham have tried something high-profile and, needless to say, it will not be the last. However, The Peacekeepers will be there when they strike again.

(6) Is there a way for possible for civilians to contact The Peacekeepers?Civilians are welcome to stop by The Office, located in Midtown Metropolis where our secretary Ms. Tipps will be more than happy to take messages for the team. Alternatively, the team can be contacted via our website. Out on the streets The Peacekeepers will generally stop if they see a citizen in distress; no matter what the situation we are always happy to help, be it a cat stuck up a tree, or a knife-point mugging.

(7) What about Brainiac? How long do you think it will take to push his presence from the city?Braniac's prescent in Metropolis and Gotham is massive, it's taking most of our efforts, including the efforts of other superteams such as The Vanguardians and The Red Pharos Corps in order to prevent him from advancing. We are in the process of formulating a way to permanently take him out of the equation and have talked with The Justice League themselves about this. As for how long, we cannot say right now, however, we will not rest until we have found a way to eradicate Braniacs presence from our planet.

(9) Is there anything you'd like to say to our community to alleviate their concerns.
Braniac is after the exobytes, we know this for a fact. To those citizens who have been affected by the exobytes and have found themselves with strange new abilites, please contact us. Brightside, one of our reserve members, also a scientist with NASA, is undertaking the task of training new heroes who have discovered their powers. By simply emailing us or coming into the office, we can put exobyte carriers into this EFP (Exobyte Familiarisation Program) and ensure that you're comfortable with yours powers, as well as instructing you on how to use them for the greater good.
For those citizens who remain unaffected by the exobytes, we urge you to carry on your lives as normal, however, take extra care when out on the streets as the now frequent super-powered battles can often lead to collateral damage and civilian casualties.
(10) Sources now tell us that a few former members of The Others are now PeaceKeepers, and that Revenant has been missing for weeks, can you confirm this?
Unfortunately, most members of The Others are extremely secretive, so it's very difficult to say where their origins lie. We have added The Green Hornet to the roster however and hope his connections with The Others only increase the crime fighting ability of The Peacekeepers. As for Revenant, he has been known to disappear for weeks on assignment and currently we are not concerned as to his safety, having proved he can take care of himself on countless occasions.
(11) Thank you for your time Overdrive. It's always a pleasure to speak with well-known heroes like yourself. Are there any final thoughts you want to leave our community? The pleasure was all mine I assure you, as a founding member of The Peacekeepers it's great to have a direct line to the citizens we're working to protect. As a final work, I would like to tell the citizens of Metropolis and Gotham not to panic about the recent events, including Braniac's invasion, the assassination of The Elementals as well as the rise of 'Burn' on the streets; The Peacekeepers are always around and will not cease to fight for our cities and their citizens.

It's been a pleasure. *Overdrive nods before ascending into the air, gliding effortlessly skyward as he disappears behind the buildings of the Metropolis Skyline*

  6. @LO-Sinner..If you read what I said I wasn't putting you down. In fact none of the PKers have really put you down. And as I already said before I'm on the PC side. I do play PvP but unless its cross platform its not gonna happen. Why don't you come over to the PC side and bring some off your 300 members as back up. We here our name spoken from the mouths of villains hiding on the PS3 PvP. Now thats what I call talking trash with a bodyguard standing in front of you.
